S\u00e9rgio Conde\u00e7o (1968) was born in Portugal and lived part of his childhood in Nampula, Mozambique. In Oporto, he attended a Textile Design course at CITEX, having been a textile designer for the first fifteen years of his professional life. In 2015, he decided to focus exclusively to Illustration and opened his own studio in Lisbon, working as a freelancer. In 2016 and for three years, he worked as artistic director of the Partis Program, under the theme “Art for Inclusion” with the support of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and through a partnership of the Portuguese Council for Refugees. He frequently collaborates in group and solo exhibitions. He has been invited to participate in initiatives related to illustration, namely: UIVO – Mostra de Ilustra\u00e7\u00e3o da Maia, Festival Onomatopeia de Valongo, Braga em Risco and Livremente, an initiative of Junta de Freguesia da Miseric\u00f3rdia de Lisboa. In 2017, S\u00e9rgio Conde\u00e7o became an illustrator for Not\u00edcias Magazine – Di\u00e1rio de Not\u00edcias\/Jornal de Not\u00edcias. His illustrations have been published in magazines such as Time Out, Epicur, Gerador and Manifesto. In 2019, he was invited by Penguin Random House to illustrate his first two children’s books. In 2020, other publications by Livraria Lello, Livros Horizonte, Alfarroba, D. Quixote and UPA would follow. He expects to have nine books published by 2022. S\u00e9rgio Conde\u00e7o is now part of the artistic collective at the Centro de Artes de Carnide, in Lisbon.<\/span><\/p>\n
