Photographer and graphic designer, Th\u00e1sya Barbosa found in the click of the camera the aesthetic sensibility that happens beyond the act of capturing images.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This sensibility allows her to tell stories and (re)cognize herself via otherness, exposing her conceptual point of view through the people she portrays.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A cosmopolitan soul with the heart of a small town girl, Th\u00e1sya builds her poetry by registering insurgent forms. Restless, she investigates the past and finds the future through the lens of her camera in search of perceiving her own identity.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In 2017, she worked as art director and photographer in the short film \u201cBarbeiragem\u201d produced with Yasmin Thayn\u00e1 and G\u00e9ssica Justino, screened alongside an interactive installation at \u2018Rider\u2019s \u201cD\u00e1 pra fazer\u201d Festival.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Th\u00e1sya moved to S\u00e3o Paulo in 2018, and had some of her art pieces selected for the exhibition \u201cRecortes da Natureza Humana\u201d at the Gabriel Wickbold Studio and Gallery, she also acted as a photographer dor the Lua Le\u00e7a\u2019s column in W\u00f6W Magazine\u2019s anniversary edition, one of Barbosa\u2019s photos received a prize by Brazil Foundation\u2019s \u2018Abrace o Brasil\u2019 campaign, curated by The 55 Project and exhibited at events in Miami and New York.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The series \u2018Vista a Minha Pele\u2019 (\u201cWear My Skin\u201d) is the unfolding of the research that began by portraying her own body experimenting with textures, layers and diverse fabrics in which discomfort and the sensation of imprisonment paradoxically generate powerful, daring and above all, libertarian photos.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A black Brazilian woman from Barra do Pira\u00ed, the countryside of Rio de Janeiro, the artist had the support of her family to venture into the big city, where she quickly made her home.<\/p>\n
