Joana Dornellas is a self-taught artist. She paints with her left hand, and it shows. The crooked strokes, the mistakes, and the smudges are part of the process and have ultimately become her artistic language. She works from observations of everyday life, celebrating imperfection, a passion for colors, and the beauty of simple things. In her practice, painting emerges as a space free of rules, where the mundane is valued and transformed into an image. Common objects, repeated phrases, and small everyday gestures become artistic material, treated with humor, lightness, and an intuitive approach.
