Mariana Baldaia
Artist and Designer
Mariana has a graphic design degree (2009) and a post-graduation in Illustration (2011). From 2011 to 2020 her work was more focused on Poster Design using hand made illustration as the center of her graphic work. A regular presence at posters biennial such as Ecuador’s Poster Biennial winning bronze prize (2020), selected for the Peruvian Biennial Design (2019), also selected for the Mexico Poster Biennial (2018) and for Bolivia Poster Biennial (2017, 2015, 2013), also selected for the Trnava Poster Triennial (2015) and Lahti Poster Triennial (2014).
During COVID, her work was invaded by her 3 sons. Being home locked, they would draw together and that originated a new area of interest. Let the kids join the craft process creating tiles, paper masks, ceramic masks, transforming these creations into sculptures and soon the posters and computer work were left aside. And lately her work has been turned into education by art for children and their influence is all over her work.
