Pedro Ventura Matos

Pedro Ventura Matos (Santarém, 1989) lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal. Pedro’s background in contemporary art was expanded with his education at the Faculdade Nacional de Belas Artes de Lisboa in Lisbon, ArCo Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual in Lisbon and Central Saint Martins – University of the Arts in London. In parallel to his own practice, Matos has curated exhibitions, contributed as a guest editor in several publications and was a co-founder of Aujourd’hui – a Lisbon based independent editorial and curatorial platform that promotes and supports contemporary art practices.
His work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and institutions such as Saatchi Gallery in London, Museu do Côa in Vila Nova de Foz Coa, FF Projects in Monterrey and Los Angeles, The Goss-Michael Foundation in Dallas, among others. Matos’ work is held in important collections which include The Herning Museum of Contemporary Art in Herning, Denmark, National Army Museum, London, United Kingdom; Guarda Museum, Guarda, Portugal; Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal, Lisbon, Portugal; MARCC Museum, Cascais, Portugal and Bech Risvig Collection, Aarhus, Denmark.
