Maciel Santos
Artist
Maciel Santos was born in 1982 and lives and works in Sesimbra. He was always a curious child, and from a very early age, his imagination served as a vehicle for his fantasies and adventures. Restless by nature, he began by studying architecture at ISCTE, then fell in love with cooking and worked as a chef at Bica do Sapato and the Pestana Palace Hotel in Lisbon. He worked as a chef in London, where he realized that what had always driven him was the desire to create and express himself freely, which led him to enroll in the Painting program at FBAUL, which he completed in 2013. Since then, he has participated in solo and group exhibitions as well as artist residencies. He has collaborated on set design projects with João Pedro Vale and Nuno Alexandre Ferreira, as well as for the Sui Generis Theater Company. Since 2014, he has been developing various creative projects alongside architect Sara Pereira as part of the Maxuxa collective. In 2021, she accepted the challenge of joining the board of Grémio Cezimbrense with the aim of creating a meeting place where artistic expression serves as a vehicle for cultural and social development.
