Matheus Zaffani
Artista
Born in Brazil and raised in Portugal (moving back and forth between the two countries), Matheus Zaffani is a multidisciplinary artist who pursues his art in his spare time amid the ups and downs of life in Lisbon. He earned a degree in Biological Sciences from UENP and conducted research on education, historical-dialectical materialism, and sexuality at UENP and UNESP. With the pandemic, he felt the need to reconnect with and strengthen ties to his artistic side—always present but sporadic since childhood—so he added a technical course in Graphic Design to his resume and took on projects (here and there). Carrying (through these twists and turns) a suitcase full of clippings and trinkets of immigrant and queer struggle and resistance, she also seeks, through her art, to fulfill a role of analysis, instrumentalization, and social transformation. Her artistic work, partially published, includes poetry, music, digital illustrations, drawing, sculptures, and installations (well, and life is full of performances, isn’t it?). Some published examples include the sculpture “Not Everything That Falls into the Net Is a Fish” (2022), in collaboration with Ricardo Anastácio, part of the Erasmus+ “Let Me Know” project via Rede Ex Aequo; and posters for underground raves, such as CURVS (2024; 2025) and BAILEFERVO (2025; 2026a; 2026b).
